Dwarka is located in southwest Delhi, near the international and domestic airports of New Delhi. It is surrounded by NH8, outer ring road, Najafgarh road and the rewari railway line. Janakpuri residential area and Delhi cantonment are the major landmarks, in the local area. Gurgaon is also close by.

These cloth pickers usually come in the afternoon with their hand carts to dump the waste material, informs the boy who runs a tea stall from the site itself.


According to a top DDA official, who didn't want to be repeated and involved with various projects of Dwarka, It is a land reserved for a socio cultural centre which will be having art galleries, planetarium, auditorium, etc. to advertise cultural activities in Dwarka. This plot is yet to be taken up for building purpose by a government department. Usually DDA hands over various sites in Dwarka to MCD for development activity. This site is still with the DDA and has not been handed over to MCD so far.

People usually throw waste material on empty plot. It seems Asia's largest colony is slowly but steadily changing into a dumping ground. Most of the residents living in sectors 12 and 13 are suffering for this smelling plot up of land. Not only do these areas smell, they have also become a perfect breeding land for mosquitoes and some other tiny insects which making people to think for another place. And it's the residents of neighboring apartments who have to suffer.

The rental- housing segment in Dwarka is more active in comparison to the capital segment. However, if we compare to other NCR towns, Dwarka still moves slowly behind. Many projects are in motion but their impact can only be known once they are operational, real estate agents in dwarka say.
